Learn a new skill with our cross country ski taster get away. Stay in a Norwegian hytte and experience the ‘hygge’ lifestyle.

Have you heard about cross country skiing but never tried it, think that it must be incredibly hard work skiing uphill… or maybe if you have given it a go you ended up feeling like you had ‘orangutan’ arms as your legs were doing little of the work?
Come and ski with us to dispel some of those myths. It might be ‘second nature’ to some people but generally skills learning can improve so much quicker with some bespoke training skills tuition and in a small group. We start right at the very beginning and assume no previous experience.
Day 1 – Fly to Oslo Gardermoen Airport before taking the direct train to Kongsberg and a 10 minute bus ride up to the ‘hytte on the hill’ near to the ski centre. Our first evening meal all together, then a short briefing about clothing layers and keeping warm.
Days 2-3 – Maximising ‘time on skis’ – first of all we sort out our skis and boots and head off to the tracks to learn the ‘classic’ ski technique. we’ll leave some time in the afternoon and the second day to head out ‘on tour’, to put all of these skills into practice. The programme can be flexible to return to the hytte for lunch, allow time for individual consolidation of skills, also try skiing with a pulk (sledge) which we use on our ski tour trips like the come together each evening for our meal back at the cabin. There is also an option for those who would like to experience camping out for one night, right next to the cabin.
Day 4 – Morning bus and train transfer back to Oslo Gandermoen for onward travel home the same day. If you plan to stay on in Oslo, we have plenty of ideas what else to see and do.
Inclusions and Exclusions
Flights to and from Norway
Skis, poles and boot hire.
Accommodation: 3 nights in twin rooms in a Norwegian log cabin (sleeping bag and tent provided for those who would like to sleep out one night).
All food from the first evening meal to the last day breakfast. – everyone helps with the food preparation and washing up.
Personal clothing plus sleeping bag liner and towel – full kit list will be issued upon receipt of deposit.
Excess baggage on aeroplane
Experience Required: No previous knowledge or experience required… just a willingness to have fun!
Physical Fitness Required: Good. The fitter you are, the more you are likely to get out of this short trip.
